Silver Stars - Atticus Fault - Atticus Fault Fault's self-titled debut is competent but somewhat anonymous modern rock that has obviously absorbed a lot of influences, but perhaps so many that there's not much room Silver Stars - Atticus Fault - Atticus Fault the band's own personalities to assert themselves. Yet it's hard to figure how this is going to stand out from the throng, both John Tejada & Justin Maxwell - Our Gigantic Mistake and far more importantly to listeners.
There are some almost new age-ish electronics here and there particularly on the opening "Soundtrack"yet at heart it's a big-sounding guitar album with earnest, expansive vocals and uplifting harmonies, and touches of grungy grit Wild Flag - Wild Flag folk-rock-ish delicacy.
The songs have a yearning, spiritual overlay without getting too specific about what these fellows want or seek. There are also some alternations of quiet contemplative passages with barnstorming loud guitar assaults, which, by the early s, were getting overworked throughout pop in general.
And there aren't strong enough melodies to make the amorphous nature of the material less irrelevant. They sound like drifters through the sea of early 21st century AOR, and as they drift so does the listener's attention.
